<h1>Occupational Therapist</h1><p>The Occupational Therapist provides assessment and evidence-based intervention for children experiencing challenges with fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, play, emotional regulation and participation in home, early learning and community settings. Working within a multidisciplinary early childhood intervention model, the Occupational Therapist builds the capacity of families, educators and team members to support each child's development, independence and participation in everyday activities.</p><h1>Key Duties and Responsibilities for OT</h1><h2>Clinical</h2><ul><li>Administer, score and interpret standardised and informal assessments of children's motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, play, cognition and participation.</li><li>Develop individualised, evidence-based intervention plans aligned with each child's NDIS plan and family goals.</li><li>Deliver individual and group therapy in clinic, via telehealth, and in homes, kindergartens and schools.</li><li>Assess for and recommend assistive technology, equipment and environmental modifications to support children's participation and independence.</li><li>Develop and support sensory and regulation strategies for use across home and education settings.</li><li>Coach and train parents, carers and educators to embed therapeutic strategies into daily routines.</li><li>Plan therapy blocks, monitor progress against goals and adjust intervention accordingly.</li><li>Identify risk and safeguarding concerns and escalate in line with practice policy and mandatory reporting obligations.</li></ul><h2>Documentation and Reporting</h2><ul><li>Maintain accurate, timely clinical records in the practice management system (Cliniko).</li><li>Prepare assessment reports, NDIS progress reports, therapy plans, assistive technology recommendations and letters to referrers and other professionals.</li><li>Meet NDIS documentation, billing and service agreement requirements.</li></ul><h2>Teamwork and Service Development</h2><ul><li>Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, providing coaching and consultation to key workers (early childhood intervention teachers) and other clinicians.</li><li>Participate in case conferences, team meetings, supervision and peer support.</li><li>Contribute to service development, resource creation and continuous quality improvement.</li><li>Maintain and extend professional knowledge through ongoing professional development consistent with AHPRA registration standards.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><h1>Speech Pathologist</h1><p>The Speech Pathologist provides assessment, diagnosis and evidence-based intervention for children with communication and feeding/swallowing difficulties, including speech, language, social communication, fluency, voice and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) needs. Working within a multidisciplinary early childhood intervention model, the Speech Pathologist builds the capacity of families, educators and team members to support each child's communication development and participation in everyday settings.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h1>Clinical Duties and Responsibilities for SP</h1><ul><li>Administer, score and interpret standardised and informal assessments of speech, language, communication, social interaction, fluency, voice and feeding/swallowing.</li><li>Formulate diagnoses and develop individualised, evidence-based intervention plans aligned with each child's NDIS plan and family goals.</li><li>Deliver individual and group therapy in clinic, via telehealth, and in homes, kindergartens and schools.</li><li>Assess for, prescribe and support the use of alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) systems and other assistive technology.</li><li>Provide feeding and mealtime support within scope of practice, including onward referral where indicated.</li><li>Coach and train parents, carers and educators to embed communication strategies into daily routines.</li><li>Plan therapy blocks, monitor progress against goals and adjust intervention accordingly.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><h1>Qualifications and Registration Requirements</h1><ul><li>Bachelor or Master degree in Occupational Therapy (or an overseas qualification approved by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia) OR Speech-Language Pathology&nbsp;</li><li>Current general registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or eligibility to obtain registration.</li><li>Professional indemnity insurance coverage (provided through the practice for employees).</li><li>Membership with Speech Pathology Australia also desirable&nbsp;</li></ul><h1>Other Requirements</h1><ul><li>Current Working with Children Check (Queensland Blue Card), or eligibility to obtain one.</li><li>NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, or eligibility to obtain one.</li><li>Current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel locally for community-based visits.</li><li>Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module.</li><li>Current first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).</li></ul><h1>Skills and Experience</h1><p>This position description applies to a qualified Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist.&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Demonstrated post-qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist with paediatric experience highly regarded. Minimum one year full-time or equivalent required.</li><li>Sound knowledge of evidence-based paediatric speech therapy or occupational therapy assessment and intervention approaches, and ability to manage a clinical caseload with routine supervision.</li><li>Understanding of early childhood intervention best practice and family-centred, capacity-building approaches.</li><li>Experience with, or working knowledge of, the NDIS and its reporting requirements.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.</li><li>Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team.</li><li>Warm, family-centred approach and commitment to culturally responsive practice.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p>
